Hilaane’s Rug, 2023

Through weaving processes and print methods, I examine the history of Lebanese textiles in Lebanon and throughout the diaspora. With a particular focus on a rug that my great-grandmother had in her home, I work through the meaning of textiles as survival. This project unravels ideas of loss, preservation, and healing.

Tapestry made and hand-dyed on a 6-shaft floor loom, accompanied by screenprints and handcut vinyl.

Displayed in Jewett Art Gallery in 2023. Awarded Wellesley College Honors Thesis in Studio Art
